It's official: after several months of hard work, Congrès et Expositions de Bordeaux has just been awarded ISO 20121 certification. This international standard, dedicated to more responsible event management, recognises the commitment of all the teams involved in the day-to-day running of more virtuous events. The certification, awarded by AFNOR, covers the company's two core activities, event production and venue management, and is valid for 3 years.
A NEW STEP TOWARDS MORE RESPONSIBLE EVENT MANAGEMENT
Several months ago, Congrès et Expositions embarked on an ISO 20121 certification process. The audit highlighted the skills (knowledge), professionalism (know-how) and enthusiasm (interpersonal skills) of the teams. Strengths were identified, as well as areas for improvement, which will enable CEB to refine its roadmap.
Certified ISO 9001-2015 and ISO 14001-2015, CEB has been committed for several years to a Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) approach, with the aim of constantly improving the satisfaction of interested parties as well as the continuous improvement of sustainable development values and performance, applied to events activities.
‘We want to integrate the concepts of climate change, the circular economy, environmental protection and pollution prevention into our business activities today and in the future, both internally and in the solutions we offer our customers and in the relationships we establish with our suppliers, partners and other interested parties’.
Stéphane Kintzig, Director, Bordeaux Convention and Exhibition Centre.
CONGRES ET EXPOSITIONS DE BORDEAUX, AN AMBASSADOR FOR THE REGION
CEB's mission is rooted in the conviction that our future is invented at the heart of encounters. We are the generators of valuable, innovative and human encounters at the service of emotion and business.
Our ambition is to be a key player in the destination and to play a part in the transformation of the Bordeaux region.
CEB's certification is directly in line with the collective drive launched by the capital of Gironde to promote sustainable tourism. Following the ISO 20121 certification of the Bordeaux Metropole Convention and Visitors Bureau in 2021, Bordeaux was recently awarded the ‘Innovative and Sustainable Destination’ label in April.
THE ISO 20121 STANDARD
Created in June 2012 just before the London Olympic Games, this standard dedicated to ‘responsible management systems applied to the events business’ aims to promote sustainable development integrated into the events business. ISO 20121 is a certifiable international management standard. It incorporates the principles of sustainable development as a whole (environmental, social/societal and economic), and aims to put in place a set of procedures to identify the key sustainable development issues applying to the company's activity/event, and to integrate them into the company itself or into the development of the event.
