Guide to a positive impact event

The Bordeaux Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau has created a sustainable events guide entitled ‘Organising a positive impact event in Bordeaux, a practical 10-step guide’. Aimed at national and international event organisers, the guide aims to generate a positive legacy for the region.

"Organising a positive impact event in Bordeaux, a practical 10-step guide".

The guide is based on the four main thrusts of the city's strategy:

  1. Supporting Bordeaux's tourism offer in its responsible transition.
  2. Putting local people at the heart of tourism in a caring and supportive destination.
  3. Develop professional meetings and major events with a positive impact on the region.
  4. Manage the economic development of tourism in a sustainable way.

To complete this guide, two "checklists" have been adapted to suit different types of event (congresses, trade fairs or corporate events).

The guide and the corporate and conference checklists are available free of charge in two versions, French and English. By following these recommendations, event organisers will be able to leave a lasting and positive legacy for the region. Every event, large or small, can play a crucial role in creating a more virtuous and responsible environment.

More than 170 associations and responsible local initiatives listed!

The Sustainable Development and Convention Bureau departments of the Bordeaux Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau are working together to list existing associations and solutions. This network, which is constantly being expanded, aims to offer organisers ever more sustainable solutions, particularly in terms of waste management, redistribution of uneaten food and inclusion.
